Kate O’Neill

Founder & CEO | [meta]marketer

Kate O’Neill unites the historically adversarial disciplines of marketing and technology through her company [meta]marketer and its emphasis on using data to validate and optimize marketing messaging, offering, and overall strategy. Founded in 2009, [meta]marketer is a forward-thinking consulting agency that advocates empathy for the customer experience in the use of rules-based segmentation and targeting to achieve greater sophistication, stronger profitability, and better overall results.

Combining disparate ideas is a theme throughout Kate’s background: her formal education in languages and linguistics led her to explore the syntactic structures and semantic metaphors of web information architecture and user experience. She developed expertise and thought leadership in those areas through analyst and content roles in a variety of Silicon Valley startups, including Netflix in its early years. Kate later built two consulting businesses in Portland, Oregon, and Chicago dealing with this hybrid area of communication, web experience, and data-driven insight.

After moving to Nashville in 2003 to further her side business in songwriting, Kate became enthralled with the blossoming technology and entrepreneurial communities here. She now serves on several boards and committees, including the Business Information Systems Technology Advisory Council for Tennessee State University and the IT Workforce Recruitment Task Force for the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, speaks regularly at national conferences on marketing and analytics, and has been named a “Power Leader in Technology” and a “Woman of Influence” by the Nashville Business Journal, along with nominations for Entrepreneur of the Year and numerous other other awards and recognitions.

Brendan Wovchko

Director of Technology | Intero Alliance

I am a senior technology executive passionate about the intersection of software development and interaction design. I specialize in leading highly integrated groups of creative and engineering professionals in Agile product development — coaching teams to become self-organizing, cross-disciplinary, and delivery driven.

Most recently I have served the organizational roles of CTO to two start-ups and as a director at a larger company — managing multiple projects in parity, each with budgets between $500k and $9MM. Aside from my organizational titles I have served as Scrum Master, Product Manager, and Architect in Agile teams.

My primary advantage in team leadership is that I began developing websites 15 years ago — in “simpler times”. As new technologies emerged I progressed to more sophisticated responsibilities — designer, front-end developer, *NIX administration, programmer, and database architect. In most cases I have held the role of each of the people I manage — allowing me to understand the time it takes to complete a job, create an atmosphere where people feel both challenged and successful, and have experience to coach team members through frustration to find best-practice solutions.

In May 2008 I was recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine as a “social networking expert”.

Rick Bradley

President | O.G. Consulting

Rick has been a programmer for 28 years — from BASIC and 6502 assembly on the Commodore VIC-20 to C/C++ on Sun Sparcs to Ruby in “The Cloud™”.

Over the past 15 years he has been a co-founder of 3 start-ups (some back when they were known as “businesses”, all of them profitable, none taking VC money) serving Wall Street financiers, publishing cartels, music industrialists, behemoths and small fry of medicine, purveyors of systems software, hawkers of sleep management advice, and erstwhile vendors of hand-crafted patio furniture.

He is a veteran of the most successful hedge fund on the planet, a software community organizer, an Occupy Nashville arrestee, a recidivist open source software author, and horrid failure (or grand success) as an artist and performer.

His current “start-up”, O.G. Consulting, is the premier ruby application development shop in Nashville and the surround. They have extensive expertise in building clinical software systems: from intake to claims, scheduling to diagnosis, documentation to clinical guidance.

O.G. have counseled numerous startups, and spend the bulk of their time working nationwide as project rescue experts. They also do a plethora of decidedly non-clinical work and vacation in such luxurious locales as Bagdogra, Bruges, and Baltimore.

Rick enjoys long walks past the Gobi vendors, embarrassingly fast deployments, and the occasional back-yard Old Time jam. He finally got a cell phone last August.
